Worship Life

Worship Life
Our mission is to provide space and opportunity for the Holy Spirit to guide and direct conversation with the Triune God. We seek to release and renew the Holy Spirit's work by varying the style and methods of presentation in worship, by collaborating with other ministries and by taking God’s presence beyond our walls. There are opportunities for involvement on art teams, in solos, choirs and ensembles, in dramatic roles, as dancers, caring for the chancel area, serving communion and the list goes on. If you would like more information, please contact Rick Deasley, Director of Worship Life.

Upcoming Worship Life Events

Palm Sunday Weekend
April 12/13
We encounter 2 processions on our entry into Holy Week, one a triumphal entry, the other a procession to the cross.

Maundy Thursday
April 17
5:30pm First Communion Meal and Service in Charter Hall.
7:30pm Service of Holy Communion & Footwashing in the Sanctuary, with bells, choir and the Stripping of the Altar. Music of Bach, Biery and Stainer.

Good Friday
April 18, 7:30pm
We borrow some traditions from our Orthodox cousins as our Lenten journey comes to a climax and we view the cross from an unexpected perspective. Music of Li, Mozart, Faure, Liszt, Ward, Farrell & Proulx. You will only gain the full measure of Easter if you also attend the funeral!

Holy Saturday
April 19, 8:00pm
We begin around a fire in the south parking lot, then proceed to the darkened sanctuary, where the ancient Easter Proclamation is sung. Following a brief service, we celebrate Easter's official arrival with a jazz champagne/hors d'oeuvres reception in the narthex with Ken Lovern, Dan Thomas and the jazz group.

Easter Sunday
April 20, 8:30 & 11am
Alleluias burst forth as choirs, bells, KC BrassWorks and Liturgical Dance combine to celebrate the Lord's resurrection! The artistic surprise points us to our trajectory for Easter season.

Saturday April 26, 7:30pm
KC Civic Orchestra
in a classical series concert titled "Tragedy to Transfiguration". Music of Tchaikovsky, Diamond and Richard Strauss. FREE, but come early to get a seat.
