Leftover Food Ministry

Atonement desires to be good stewards of leftover food. Many of Atonements events and meetings revolve around food. Consequently we have much unused, but we have a system in place to recycle this food!

A team of Atonement members regularly pick up the leftover bakery items from Johnson County Community Culinary School most Fridays during the school year. About half of the items are used at Atonement's Sunday Café and the rest is delivered to other outlets along with other left-over food from various meetings held at Atonement. Recipients  of the food include Safehome, Mirror,Inc., and Hollis Renewal Center. This year we have added House of Hope, a home for troubled teenage girls, and the Ronald McDonald House located within Childrens Mercy Hospital.

If you are helping with an event that has extra food with nowhere to go, or you are interested in ways you can help with deliveries, please contact Ruth Ahlrichs at 913.648.0618 or
