New to Atonement

Welcome to Atonement! We encourage you to check out the various ministries and opportunities we have available. Please feel free to look through the information here and contact Ros Thorpe in the church office (913-648-0595, ext. 14) if you have any questions.
Worship at Atonement:
All are welcome to worship at Atonement! You’ll find our worship services follow Lutheran liturgy, with the addition of a variety of musicians and hymn styles. We encourage everyone in your family to attend worship together along with friends and neighbors. We also have a nursery north of the sanctuary for children up to age 5, or parents can sit with their children in the lobby, where they can hear and follow the services together.

We offer three worship services each week: Saturday evening at 5:00pm, Sunday mornings at 8:30am and 11:00am. There are special services at certain times of the church year so please check this site or our church newsletter for specific dates and times.

Communion at Atonement:
Communion is offered at all three weekend services, and all who desire to receive it are welcome. Worshippers who are physically unable to come forward may receive communion in their seat (please let the usher know).

Accessibility at Atonement:
Atonement has three entrances – at the north, east, and south sides of the building. All are handicapped accessible and lead to the sanctuary at the south end of the building. We also offer personal hearing systems in the sanctuary for those experiencing difficulty hearing (for assistance, please speak to an usher). Restrooms are located next to the nursery, north of the sanctuary.

Education and Fellowship Opportunities at Atonement:
Christian education classes are offered ages 2 through adult on Sundays from 9:45-10:45am, September through May. For more information on these opportunities, visit the Children's Spiritual Life, Youth Spiritual Life and Adult Spiritual Life sections under the Ministries tab on our website. Please contact the church office with other questions.

Exploring the Lutheran faith:
Atonement Lutheran Church is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), a community of faith of nearly 10,500 congregations across the U.S., and nearly 5 million members, headquartered in Chicago. For information about the ELCA, please visit

Membership at Atonement:
We rejoice when we welcome members at Atonement! Informative gatherings with Pastor Brian are offered regularly during the year. Our next class will be held on Sunday, February 22, from 6:30-8:00pm in the Gathering Place. Those who wish to join will be received into membership on March 8 at the 11:00am service. For more information, or to RSVP for the Feb. 22 evening, please contact Ros Thorpe in the church office, 913-648-0595, ext 14.
